When I first came back, I was worried that sl would be a lonely place for me. Most of the people I knew had already left and the ones that did still come online didn’t do so often enough. Like I said before in my introductory post, I’m shy and I tend to get nervous around new people so I don’t normally take the initiative to talk to strangers. Then also, there are those instances when I run away whenever I see someone about to approach me. With Zak absent a lot and my friends list constantly grayed out, sl did become a lonely place for me for awhile. I talked about this with Shelly one night and she said it was hard being shy because you are afraid to socialize with others, and not being able to do so leads to a state of loneliness which then becomes a vicious cycle. That was the gist of it anyway. I contemplated on this after she had left and thought, she’s right! The only way to stop being lonely was to take a risk and break the vicious cycle. From that point on I made up my mind to get out there and be more sociable even if I was feeling scared about it. It has worked too. I have met, talked, made friends with a lot more people since then.
Finally, Zak and I got to spend some time with each other during the weekend. I had already given up hope that he will show up because he didn’t come Saturday night, but he eventually did the next day. He came around 10-ish in the evening and had a little difficulty finding me using the map locator (dunno why, it’s always turned on) so I sent him a tp to where I was instead. Once there I showed him my kitty- no, not that kind of “kitty” get your mind out of the gutter please, I mean the free kitty I got from KittyCats, the ones Firestorm gave away for their 3rd year anniversary celebration last September 3 – 10. I’ve wanted to show it to him since I got it. He said it was nice. Oh well, I guess he’s not as interested in virtual pet cats as he is in the real thing, that’s ok, as long as he is interested in me I don’t really mind.
Anyway, I was playing with Spaz (kitty’s name) when he went afk to get food and that’s when it happened…. Again. *sigh* I placed the cat on the platform, pressed the play button on its control hud and it started playing with this small ball. I thought it would be safe since I had only rezzed a solid single platform this time and there were no slits in the middle. I was watching it play when it fell off the edge, we were high up in the sky at 600 meters. Ugh! Not again. This has happened before. Actually it’s the third time that I’ve lost this cat. Who would have known it’s possible to lose a virtual pet? I tried looking for it up in the sky, and then on the ground, tried searching the entire parcel using area search but I couldn’t find it. I really didn’t want to spend what little time I had with Zak searching for the damn thing so I decided to leave its fate to the parcel’s auto-return after about twenty minutes of looking for it.
Next thing that we did was to go shopping for new clothes for his avatar. It was my idea. See, it has been so long since Zak stayed in SL for more than a few minutes and I’ve been raring to see him wear some new threads, so before that night I was already taking down notes on which stores to bring him to. The first item that he tried on was the punk rocker shoes we got from the Rock Attitude Hunt at Insanya, he said it was his new favorite pair of shoes. lol awesome. I knew he would like it, it was so his style. We then went to a sandbox where he could open the rest of his purchases and try them on. While there, he noticed another avatar with these big breasts and asked about it, she didn’t reply and I didn’t know what to tell him cause I didn’t know much about them either. Being the persistent guy that he is, he looked for someone else to ask about it and that’s when we met Value Runo who graciously answered all of our questions. Thanks Value
After awhile of chatting, opening boxes and just relaxing at the sandbox, we left for the photo studio, posed for some couple pictures and then went to watch World War Z together. I had already seen the movie once but I wanted to watch it with him so that was alright. I was nodding off by the middle of the movie (it was already 4 am in the morning over on my side of the world), so as soon as it was done we said our goodbyes and I was off to bed. We saw each other again a couple of hours later when I got up, shorter this time since he needed to go to bed early for work. I took him to see North Baja, he’s never been there before and we spent the little time we had left just talking and posing for pictures of course, heh. It will be a long time again before I get another chance, so gotta grab the opportunity while it’s there! Our time together went by so fast and we both didn’t want it to end yet but it was time for him to go to sleep. He knows I’m going to write about our day and post it here, and he’s looking forward to reading it. I hope I don’t disappoint him. Anyway, he’s already seen the photos I took that day and loves the one that I did at the studio. Yay!
Oh! Before I forget. Auto return sent Spaz back to my lost and found folder while we were at the studio. I wonder what naughty things he got up to those three hours he was out roaming the sandboxes unsupervised.
Today while I was following up SLURLS from the various fashion blogs that I’ve recently stumbled on in my search for freebies, I saw a familiar name on the left side of my screen (the area where second life posts their featured destinations) – INSPIRE SPACE PARK in Shinda. I thought, “Wow! That place still exists?” I immediately Tp’d to it and there it was. lol. Amazing and confusing as ever. I usually figure out the general layout of a place with one or two visits but not Inspire Space Park, in that place I don’t know which way goes where. And then I realized,” hey I could turn the lights on, duh!” I did that and saw that it didn’t look quite as good as when you’re looking at it under the intended windlight settings.
As I was mulling this over, an idea hit me. Why not use my new glow in the dark outfit? *smirks* I got it from a store that Lindal Kidd referred to me while we were hanging out at Social Island 1- I was admiring her pretty neon wings then. So I rummaged in my virtual bag, put the raver outfit on as inconspicuously as I could, and in a few seconds I was glowing in the dark. Lol. Dress, necklace, earrings, even my shoes were all glowing. I put on the hair that came with the outfit but it didn’t really fit the shape of my face so I searched for something else and found this free hair from Analog Dog called tantrum house wine. I finished the entire look with make-up that I got from one of the Sn@tch lucky boards. Perfect. Ha! Who says we need money to have fun in Second Life?
Just when I finally got my look together and was searching for a nice spot to take photos in, the light changed and it wasn’t dark anymore. Ehhhh… who would have thought it got light up there? I don’t recall it ever being light in that particular place whenever I went to visit Shinda in the past pfft! Anyway, I was all dressed up and ready for my photo shoot so I stayed and fiddled with the windlight settings and ended up with these photos.
